  • Q: How long will the PQI 301 last on a full charge?
  • A: 8-12 hours, depending on usage.
  • Q: How long does it take to recharge the PQI 301?
  • A: 4 hours.
  • Q: Will the PQI 301 charge if the unit is plugged in, but is left “ON”?
  • A: After 10 minutes of not using the gauge, it will go into a sleep mode; after another 10 minutes it will turn off.
  • Q: Will the PQI 301 retain currently displayed information when it goes into battery saver mode?
  • A: Yes.
  • Q: Is it necessary to calibrate the PQI 301 against a known source, such as the test block? If so, how often should calibration be done?
  • A: We recommend once a year for calibration, however, it is useful to use the test block frequently to ensure the gauge is working properly in the field.
  • Q: Is the PQI 301 case waterproof?
  • A: No.
  • Q: Can the PQI 301 be used to measure core samples from a job site?
  • A: No.

  • Q: How often should the PQI 301 be sent back to the manufacturer for check up?
  • A: It is recommended annually.
  • Q: What type of cleaning agents, if any, should be used to clean the sensor area of the PQI 301? How often?
  • A: WD-40 is a good cleaning agent. It is very important to spray the WD-40 on a rag and use on the sensor. DO NOT spray WD-40 directly on the sensor. Use when there is significant asphalt build up on the sensor. Be sure to clean the sensor after each days use.
  • Q: In the manual, what is meant by “excessive moisture”. What is considered “excessive moisture”?
  • A: Any H2O value over 10.
  • Q: Does TransTech provide training for the PQI 301?
  • A: We welcome individuals to come to the TransTech Systems facility in NY, free of charge, for training. Please call toll-free 1-800-724-6306 to arrange dates and for any additional training information.
  • Q: Is the PQI 301 available in languages other than English?
  • A: Yes, we can also program the interface for Spanish, Dutch, German or Italian.
  • Q: What type of warranty is available with a new PQI 301?
  • A: We offer a 1 year warranty on parts and labor for issues related to materials and workmanship on all new PQI 301's.
